Andre Thorburn has been making exceptional knives since 1989. André is one of the leading handmade knife makers in South Africa and was Chairman of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa from September 2007 to September 2011. He has won several international awards and recognitions for his craftsmanship. Andre combines modern technologies such as CNC, laser and waterjet with traditional hand engraving and file work to create truly unique knives.
 
The L48 model is a mid-size, gentleman’s knife. The blade is made of N690 steel featuring polished flats and hand-rubbed satin grinds. The blade runs on IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) washers for exceptionally smooth action, both on deployment and closing. The bolster lock mechanism presents a clean & uniform aesthetic on both sides.

The handle features masterfully hand engraved and blue anodized titanium bolsters. The black and blue Lightening Strike Carbon Fiber (LSCF) scales are a perfect match for the bolsters and the red liners adds a desirable contrast to this combination. The G-10 backspacer is held between the liners which are masterfully hand filed, polished & anodized.
