Glenn Are Hovin is a Norwegian knifemaker with a talent that knows no limits. He was trained by no other than the legendary Stan Wilson and much of his knifemaking follows the same techniques as Stan uses in his world-famous knives such as the Non Flipper Flipper (NFF). Glenn's custom knives are 100% handmade, no fancy machines or CNC. He uses old school tools. The only tool he has that can be called advanced is a bench mill, the rest of his tools were mostly built by him. "It's a good feeling to make the knives out of the tools I have made." says Glenn!
 
This particular Storm model is a very special piece, not only because it was a commission piece made to the highest specs, but it is also the very last Storm before the model was retired. The list of exceptional materials and details are long, but worthy of your attention.
 
BLADE
The blade is made from the very sought-after Chad Nichols Armor Core San Mai Damascus, a truly magnificent blade visually and functionally. The recurve blade is hollow ground and deep etched to amplify the Damascus pattern.
 
PIVOT
If there's one thing to set Glenn Are Hovin apart, it would be his unique, complex custom pivots. This pivot if fully custom milled with more details and time spent on it than other makers put into an entire knife. The pivot is connected to the blade internally and rotates with it, designed to act as the secondary opening mechanism, it works as a thumb flipper! The centre piot screw is made of stainless steel and is hand filled and polished while the casing is made of titanium and is finished in a fine eggshell texture.
 
HANDLE
The knife is built on a titanium frame featuring a fine eggshell texture on all the front and rear and satin finish on all edges. Unlike most other knives with plain handle interiors, this Storm is fully jewelled internally. The handle scales are made of Timascus with a gorgeous pattern and vibrant colours. The floating backspacer is also made of Timascus and bears the hand engraved makers signature on the inside. The lock side features a titanium pocket clip set into the handle with hidden hardware.

LOCKING & DEPLOYMENT
The locking mechanism is bolster lock to keep the design uniform and symmetrical on both sides. The lock cut-out is one of the most interesting we've come across on any knife, it is integrated with the Timascus scale. The deployment is achieved via the flipper tab, as well as the oversized pivot that doubles as a thumb flipper.
 
HARDWARE & ASSEMBLY
In true Stan Wilson fashion, the entire knife is put together with hidden hardware. This is one of the most coveted features in custom knives and very few knifemakers have managed to successfully execute this. Fortunately, Glenn Are Hovin who was trained by Stan has mastered the art of hidden hardware.
