Microtech DOC Tactical Flipper Knife Elmax Steel Blue Handle, Traction Inserts
The DOC (Death On Contact) is a collaboration between microtech and Mick Strider. It is a heavy duty folder initially designed for tactical/military use. It has large handles with great ergonomics. With additional traction inserts it is well suited for use in wet or oily conditions as well as use with thick gloves. The large front finger choil makes is crowned which makes it very comfortable to choke up on the blade.
This is particular knife comes with a very desirable Elmax steel. Microtech is known to get the bset out of the Elmax steel with their heat treatment. The large & wide blade is beautifully compound ground and is stonewashed finish. The oversized blade stops are titanium. The flipping and lock up is absolutely rock solid with a loud bang every time. This knife features a sub-framelock which is removable.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The detent is very hard on these knives. You need to practice your grip in order to flip it correctly. If you place your finger on the lockbar, it will be impossible to flip it unless you wear gloves. As you see in the video we can flip it with no issues. You must keep your finger clear from the lockbar or the tension will be too strong to flip the knife.
